Martellus Bennett could unretire to join brother Michael on Patriots, report says

Two more brothers could be joining up in New England.

The defending champion Patriots already have a set of twins in Devin and Jason McCourty. But now Martellus Bennett is interested in coming out of retirement to join his brother Michael in New England, according to an ESPN report, which cites unidentified league sources.

The Patriots reportedly traded for Eagles defensive end Michael Bennett on Friday. He recorded nine sacks for Philadelphia in 2018-19.

Michael’s younger brother, Martellus, last played for New England in 2017 and retired in March 2018. He totaled six receptions for 53 yards that year.

The Bennett brothers played in college together at Texas A&M. Michael was a less well-known recruit than Martellus who was a five-star tight end coming out of Alief Taylor outside of Houston. The two played together from 2005 to 2007 in College Station.

The Patriots have won three of the last five Super Bowls and appear to be looking to add pieces for another run at the Lombardi Trophy.
